张家港保税区于1992年经国务院批准设立，是全国第—批海关特殊监管区，2008年升级为保税港区，2021年5月设立金港、后塍、德积三个街道，实施区街一体化管理，辖区面积152平方公里。现有企业8000多家，其中世界500强企业超30家，拥有本土上市企业12家，成为长三角重要的国际资本承载区、现代产业集聚地和大宗商品集散中心，获评长江经济带国家转型升级示范开发区、全国最具投资潜力经济园区、全国首批国家生态工业示范园区、全国最具投资潜力经济园区、江苏省先进开发区等荣誉称号。
Zhangjiagang Bonded Zone was established in 1992 following the State Council's approval, to be among the first batch of special customs supervision zones. In 2008, it was transformed into a bonded port. In May 2021, Jingang Street, Houcheng Street and Deji Street were established, and district-street integration management was implemented. Currently, it covers an administration area of 152 km2, and hosts more than 8,000 enterprises, including over 30 Fortune 500 enterprises and 12 listed local enterprises. It is known as an important international investment destination located in the Yangtze River basin, an agglomeration of modern industries and a commodity distribution center. The zone has been honored as the National Model Development Zone in Yangtze River Economic Belt for Transformation and Upgrading, the Economic Park with the Most Investment Potential in China, one of the 1st National Ecological Industry Demonstration Parks, National IPR Demonstration Park, National Civilized Town, among other titles.
