I. Background for Proposed Project
Zhangjiagang Free Trade Zone (FTZ) is the only inland river type FTZ in China which was approved by the State Council in 1992. In 2008 the total amount of goods in and out of the district reached 9.8 million tons with total value of US$ 12.17 billion, contributing US$ 665 million taxes and tariffs.
Textile Material Market is located in Zhangjiagang Free Trade Zone (FTZ), enjoying convenient transportation conditions and preferential policies of FTZ. The Market provides “one-stop-trade” service to customers. Now there are 161 companies in the Market with US$ 740 million turnover totally. It has become a very important trading center for textile materials in Yangtze River Basin.

The Market mainly deals in textile materials such as cotton, wool, chemical fiber and related products. It has 500,000 square meters’ storage and logistics area and a 20,000 square meters’ business center which can hold more than 500 companies inside.
