Zhangjiagang City aims to build itself into a modern city most suitable for living and business development.
Cultural
Zhangjiagang City owns a long history and rich cultural heritages. To name a few, there are Dongshan village of Xiangshan area which has a history of 8,000 years, the eminent monk of Tang Dynasty—Jian Zhen. who successfully made his overseas journey to Japan from Huangsipu, Zhangjiagang 1,200 years ago, Fragance Hill along the Yangtze River where the famous musician Liu Tianhua used to live, Heyang folk song which is recorded as the National Intangible Cultural Heritage and etc. Zhangjiagang City has successfully held several Yangtze Festivals and Heyang Folksong Festivals.
Education
A conplete educational system has set up in Zhangjiagang City including higher education, basic education, vocational education, adult education and on-the-job training, etc. There are different Types of schools such as Pohang International School taking IB Programme, Foreign Language School, Ivy Bilingual High School, etc for parents to choose for children according to their actual need.
Ecological Environment
Our city attached same importance to the growth of economic benefits and environmental benefits in order to achieve a harmonious development of economy and ecology. Zhangjiagang City constantly sticks to the harmonious development of environmental protection as well as economic & social development. It is vigorously creating a favorable environment enabling people to work in a modernized park and live in a gardenlike city. It is also strengthening its construction of green passages, green venues and a green homeland. Through years of great efforts, the ecological environment has been obviously improved and the Outline of Ecological Construction stipulated by our city has passed the evaluation of National Environmental Protection Ministry.
Tourism
Zhangjiagang City has abundant tourism resources and is trying to build itself into a tourist city suitable for living. Shuangshan Ecological Tourist Resort boasts both beautiful natural scenery and a modern on-water golf course. Besides, Xiangshan Hill Resort is famous for its 18 sight spots. Within Fenghuang Hill Resort there is Yongqing Temple which has a history of over 1,000 years as well as the biggest natural thermal spring. Two ecological parks named Jiyanghu Park and Liangfeng Ecological Park also provide a pleasant view. Furthermore, with both modern flavor and simple taste, areas along Yangtze River show their special charm and are famous for its Yangtze River special food.
Social Security
With complete medical & health care facilities, three complete systems have been set up in the city namely medical treatment system, public health system and emergency treatment system. The social security system covers the whole city and about 99% of residents are covered by the town-level social insurance, social insurance at rural areas and basic medical insurance for residents.
Public Security
Zhangjiagang City has a favorable political environment, a fair economic environment as well as a stable and harmonious cultural environment. Through improving the social order, the comprehensive public security prevention & control system has been set up. Furthermore, we also have complete long-term security supervision mechanism. Zhangjiagang City is one of the first to be named as National Model City for Food Safety and the “12345” network to provide convenience for people.
