Zhangjiagang City is a major supporting force for the development of the Yangtze River Delta powerful economic competitiveness.

 

The city realized 125 billion yuan of Gross Regional Production Value and 10.4 billion yuan of local fiscal revenue in 2008. The sales income of industrial products reached 370 billion yuan.

 

There are 7 enterprises in Zhangjiagang city with annual sales income exceeded RMB 10 billion yuan in 2008, 12 listed companies, 8 enterprises stepped into the Top 500 Manufacturing Enterprises of China and 9 enterprises designated as the National Top 500 Scaled Foreign-invested Enterprises.

Jiangsu Shagang Group entered 2009 Fortune 500 list, being No.444 thanks to its sales revenue last year for  20.9 billion US dollors. It is the largest private steel enterprise in China, also the only private enterprise of China  entered Fortune 500 list.
